For more than five years now, I’ve been working as a UI designer at a Swiss dental company. I’m responsible for a large part of our digital universe: the international B2C shop, the professional B2B website, landing pages, apps, campaigns and hero assets that pull people in. Thanks to my tech background, I’m also a go-to person for our CMS — always with a visually driven mindset.

Whenever I find time, my camera is my best friend (right after hanging out with the boys and enjoying family time). I’m especially into landscape photography. It shapes my design language: minimal, simple, clean, emotional and clear.

I’m Thomas Enzler, born in 1979 in Lucerne, Switzerland. I’m hooked on everything related to design: UI design, photography, interior design and minimalistic art. Simplicity, reduction and clarity are what keep my eyes awake.

Looking back at my career, I actually come from the tech side of design. For almost 20 years, I worked as a web programmer, mainly building survey tools and research experiences. Even though numbers and scripting were my everyday tools, my heart was always in the visual side — the design, the experience.

Let’s Talk Design

Time is changing fast, and we’re all feeling the shift. AI is no longer a “future thing” — it’s here, and it’s changing how we design.

I’m convinced AI is part of our future. In my daily work, I’m constantly learning how to improve my process using AI. It can speed things up, streamline workflows and make ideas possible that were out of reach before.

But there’s also the other side of the coin: losing soul, seeing the same generic visuals over and over, design without purpose — and the illusion that “now anyone can be a designer.”

Can anyone prompt an AI and get a result? Yes.
Does that make anyone a designer? No.

For me, design is something you have to feel, live and craft. The sweet spot is in between: using AI as an assistant while still bringing your own taste, experience and intuition. Don’t let AI do your job. Let it support you — the real skill still lives in your eyes, your hands and your brain.

The future is already here, and yes, we will see more and more AI in design. But at the same time, I see a growing love for analog things: film cameras, paper and pencil, printed magazines instead of screens.

I believe the future is a mix of both worlds. Digital and analog. High-tech and handmade. It’s up to us to shape that balance in a meaningful way. It’s going to be fast — but also exciting.

connected to nature

People who know me know that I have a strong connection to nature and feel a real sense of responsibility towards it. That doesn’t mean I spend every free minute out in the woods, but nature is an important source of energy and balance for me. I believe we all benefit from stepping back from time to time and reconnecting with our roots. Not in a spiritual way, but simply by slowing down, breathing, and being present.

Sustainability matters a lot to me. Living with nature, not against it, feels like the only reasonable path forward. This mindset also shows in my photography. It’s not only about the final image - it’s about the process. Being outside, experiencing the quiet moments, capturing the first light of the day. Those moments remind me what really matters and give me a strong sense of purpose.
